£ THOUSANDS RAISED AT LONDON CITY AIRPORT FUN DAY

Date: 18/08/2003
Today, Monday 18 August 2003, Richard Gooding, Managing Director of London City Airport presented a cheque for over £24,000 to the Chairman of Richard House, Robin Knowles QC. The money was raised from this year’s London City Airport 2003 Fun Day, held on Saturday 5 July.

Richard said: “It’s great that we have been able to continue our support for another year for such a worthwhile cause. Every year the Fun Day seems to get bigger and better, attracting more and more people. I would particularly like to thank all of our sponsors, both large and small, as well as all my colleagues at the airport without them this success would not have been possible.

“This year’s Fun Day attracted over 12,000 people, and whilst the local community, old and young, enjoyed themselves they helped us to raise a substantial amount of money for Richard House Children’s Hospice who care for London’s life-limited children and their families. Our donation will help towards meeting the £1.75 million annual running costs of Richard House.”

Robin said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this sizable donation; London City is an ideal neighbour, who has since the very beginning generously supported us. It is their continued support, which helps ensure that we can continue to make a difference to the children and young people we care for.”

Richard added: ”We are already working on next year’s Fun Day and have set the date for Saturday 3 July, our aim will remain the same to organise a great community event in order to raise money for Richard House – we hope to see you all there.”
