BRITISH AIRWAYS EXPANDING EAST LONDON OPERATION

Date: 13/08/2003
London City Airport is delighted to confirm that British Airways are expanding with the launch of two new services to Geneva and Edinburgh.

Geneva and Edinburgh flights will start on Sunday 26 October 2003. These services will be operated by British Airways CitiExpress, a wholly owned subsidiary of British Airways, using Avro RJ100 jet aircraft with a maximum seating capacity of 110.

There will be four flights daily to Edinburgh, Monday to Friday departing 08:10, 12:15, 16:20 and 20:20. Plus one flight on Sunday departing at 19:00.

Geneva will be served by three daily flights Monday to Friday departing at 08:35, 14:20 and 19:00. Plus, one flight on Saturday departing at 08:35 and one flight departing on Sunday at 19:00.

Richard Gooding, Managing Director of London City Airport said: “We are very pleased that British Airways have made the decision to enhance their East London operation. Having launched their route network at London City just four months ago, their recent decision highlights that business and commerce is definitely moving East generating an increase in demand for convenient air travel.

“As a result of the enhancements to the British Airways route network, which is driven by British Airways customers, Edinburgh has replaced the existing Glasgow service. However, we are working closely with our other partner airlines to provide a replacement service to ensure that there remains a link between London and Glasgow. Glasgow is a key business destination home to many financial institutions, and travelling via London City cannot be beaten in terms of time by any other mode of transport.

“We are very happy that British Airways have chosen London City Airport to strengthen their regional operation, we are very enthusiastic about the future, and look forward to continuing working closely with them to ensure further success.”

-Ends-
