Consultation and Communication

London City Airport has regular communication and contact with local people through a wide variety of channels.

The London City Airport Consultative Committee (LCACC)

The LCACC provides a forum to monitor and discuss all aspects of the operation and development of the Airport, and especially its impact on, and opportunities for, people living and working in the surrounding area. The committee is made up of a balance of representatives from local authorities, public bodies, local residents and airport users. Meetings are held quarterly and the committee’s agendas and minutes are published on the committee website www.lcacc.org

Runway News Community Newsletter
Runway News provides information on Airport Operations, Development and Community Programmes.  It is distributed to 33,000 local homes quarterly and available online click here for copies.

Surface Access to London City Airport

London City Airport understands that its transport issues must be integrated with local transport networks and future opportunities. The Airport works closely with public transport providers to maximise the services to the Airport and therefore enhance transport services for the local community. The opening of the Docklands Light Rail Airport Extension in early December 2005 was welcomed by passengers, employees and the local community and currently 50% of passengers use the DLR to access the Airport.

London City Airport’s Air Transport Forum (ATF)

The ATF was created in 1999 in response to Government guidelines set out in the 1998 White Paper - ‘A New Deal for Transport – Better for Everyone’. It is designed to improve and sustain access to the Airport. The Airport Surface Access Strategy, developed and implemented in conjunction with the ATF, details short and long term plans to increase the use of public transport by staff and passengers.

In 2009, London City Airport committed to a range of further measures to reduce the environmental impact of the Airport’s operation through its Section 106 Planning Agreement.  The new London City Airport Travel Plan forms one of these measures and is currently in draft form awaiting approval from the London Borough of Newham.
